New halal-certified plant-based TOFU MEAT to cater for Muslim visitors in Japan

TOFU MEAT has been certified Halal by a local Halal certifying body ‘Halal Food Council’ (HFC)*1 under the Fukuoka Masjid Al Nour Islamic Culture Centre*2, to expand its Halal product scope in Japan. TOFU MEAT is the new 100% plant-based food ingredient made from tofu developed by Tofu Meat Corporation.

This opens up possibilities to accommodate Muslims using this product in food & beverage establishments, like hotels and restaurants in Japan. The company plans to keep working on expanding its product range to ensure greater assurance and security for Muslims visiting Japan in the future.

*1 HFC: it is based on the Malaysian halal certification standard (one of the most globally accepted), with Muslim auditors who have Halal management qualifications from Malaysia and Indonesia.
*2 Fukuoka Masjid Al Nour Islamic Culture Centre is the first masjid (mosque) built in Kyushu region in Japan.
