Malaysia Airlines new Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo direct flights start this August

The flag carrier of Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines (MH), will start flying on the Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo Haneda route from 14 August onwards. This is MH fourth direct flight to Japan after Kuala Lumpur-Osaka, Kuala Lumpur-Tokyo, and Kota Kinabalu-Tokyo Narita routes.

The new service will operate two flights a week from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Haneda Airport (HND) by A330-300 aircraft. This expansion will complement its existing KL-Tokyo Narita operations, allowing more convenient and flexible itineraries, including access beyond both cities via the respective international hubs in Japan.

As Japan prepares to reopen international borders, MH’s group chief executive officer Izham Ismail said this timely expansion is set to enhance the connectivity between the ASEAN market and drive a greater traffic recovery between Malaysia and Japan. He added, “This expansion will allow us to tap into new opportunities by operating Asia’s third-busiest airport and the fourth-busiest airport globally”.
